The best recording sessions always go late into the
night. Right? Last night Robert Hynes came into the studio to
record overdubs for three songs for an upcoming release.
Basic tracks were recorded about three weeks ago with the full band
and are sounding great. The session started on our Hammond B3
organ, then over to the Wurlitzer for more keyboard parts. Guitar overdubs were next
followed by vocal overdubs. We settled on the RCA 77 ribbon
mic for two songs, giving us an in your face sound that got gritty
as he got loud. For the ballad, we used a Shure SM7B which
gave us a very warm tone. Finally we opened up the
Yamaha C7 grand piano for some more textures. Rob writes great songs
and I’m very excited to get started on the mixes for these
tunes. Click here to check out The Robert
