It’s cool to be important, but it’s even more important to be cool. November was a cool month here at Crystall. Look at what we did:
Keith Betti continued tracking “Stars” and doing rough mixes. One of our clients for over a decade, Keith is a singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist, hockey fan, film expert, tennis player, and Trailer Park Boys fan. Once the final mix is approved, we will post a link. He has neo-hippy leanings which we approve of.
Brian Donnelly mixed “Running out of Time”. This is a dark exploration of life, with programming by Vinnie Micko, that has an intriguing sound. Brian is one of our most esteemed people with over 30 years of Cystallization. You’ll hear Brian’s songs in film and television.
Brother John Kattke is a staple of the Chicago music scene and he has appeared with Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Koko Taylor, Syl Johnson and a plethora of blues giants. He chose our place to showcase his band for 2 songs written by Chris Neal that were gritty and real. He also recorded a solo piano and vocal demo.
If you had rolled a grenade into our studio in the last week of November you’d have wiped out a huge amount of the talent pool in Chicago. Jim Massoth, Marshall Vente, and Alejo Poveda were in our place doing tracks and mixing. It was a pleasure working with these world class artists and friends.
Robot Hilarious continues mixing for their upcoming release. Rob Hynes is near complete with tracking for his album. Jana Niebauer began demo production.
The Runaway Five began mixing songs that, of all things, include 8-bit sounds created by a Game Boy.
Life is audible.
